Frequently Asked Questions

Where do we start?

The starting place is almost always management of the situations we find ourselves in, and the emotions, confusion, pain, and anger that comes through. Management allows the way to the next level of ‘healing the cause’ and coming out of ‘overwhelm’.

The first few minutes require a bit of paper signing, which I try to keep to a minimum. Printable forms, some required for ethical, legal practice are linked at the bottom of this page. They can be downloaded, printed, and brought in on your intake appointment. My equipment is encrypted, but it’s still probably best not to email at this point.

Clearly, we want to arrive at good solutions, but anxiety is generated trying to start there. Elsewhere on the site is the story of the Survival Manual about stopping when you’re lost, and finding your way. Solution is the 3rd step. The second step is the Fairy Godmother moment: What do you wish for? The first step is finding that clearly with internal experience.

Always only three questions: What? So What? Now What? The second is a serious, critical question. The third launches.

What's your style of Therapy?

Someone once asked Bruce Lee what his fighting style was. He answered "Yours".

When are you available? I am in

  • Wilson Office Fridays and as required.

  • Alpine Office rest of the time.

  • Online Therapy Sessions at flexible times, generally after initial face to face sessions.

Do you take Insurance?

I do have folks who will bill your insurance company. I am on some panels, but what or whether they will pay depends a lot on your actual plan. You can check with them about what they pay for mental health, addictions, marital counseling, etc, and find out what, or if, they will pay. I am willing to do a Single Case Agreement if I am Out of Network and they are willing to cooperate. I have a statement on the Insurance paperwork that says "Your Insurance will almost certainly be disappointing…." You may find you don’t want to enter the system, and would rather pay at the time - I’ll give you a Superbill for your own records or to send to Insurance. This solves a lot of those problems for me and I’m willing to reduce cost to you.

What are your fees?

$140-$190 per hour depending on service and location. We can talk.

When I thought I couldn’t afford it back in my early healing days, I found out I couldn’t afford not to.

Forms:

Signatures can be done at the first appointment. A copy of your insurance card, which I can make, will reduce filling out that form to top and bottom only.
